California has
always been a melting pot, and that is reflected in its
cosmopolitan and modern kitchen, with all type of ethnic
influences. If somebody tries to define the gastronomy
of the Golden State, would receive as an answer that everything
it’s in the quality, the freshness, and many vegetables
and fruits. Its tempered climate requests a light, summer-like
kitchen, specially since tomatos, citruses, herbs and
lettuces growing all year. Some people think that California
has the first fusion gastronomy, thanks to that variety
of influences before mentioned.
The state is also recognized as one of the best wine producers
of the country, and their wines are considered of a quality
equivalent to the European. The regions of Napa and Sonoma
produce Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The Californian coastal valleys are ideal for the white
and sweet wines like the Germans, while the warm Central
Valley is an suitable home for more robust wines, like
the Zinfandel Cabernet Sauvignon.
